So I have lived in Castle Rock for almost 7 years and have never stepped foot inside this place. My friend and I were shopping at the barn and decided to grab a bite for dinner. We walked a bit and decided to stop in here. Seems like a big time local spot. They have booths and tables as well as bar top and it was busy. Every booth and table were taken so we grabbed the last two seats at the end of the bar by the door. The menu is small but seems to have a good selection. Burgers, I did ask if they had a veggie burger and they do not and they also do not have any salads, so I would probably recommend vegetarians to go elsewhere if you are planning on having dinner as you may just be eating the orange off your blue moon ;) My friend got the Brookly Club, a pastrami sandwich and I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and we split an order of sweet potato fries. My sandich came with a green chili aoli that the bartender suggested that we dip the fries in which my friend loved where as I am a honey mustard lover so I asked for a side of that. GOt a big side, a tad runny but still good. We both enjoyed our sandwiches and the service was friendly. And they have a pool table and I also believe they have darts too. Fun little spot, glad after 7 years I finally made my way in. Very very casual, which is nice sometimes :)

First time here. Good wings, burger, fries, and the blue cheese for the wings was great. Nice atmosphere and the place was moderately busy. Service was fine.

Been here many many times, and love it! Not many bars to pick from, which is hard coming from Portland, OR, but this would be my pick, as I have visited all of them here in castle rock. The staff are awesome, and drinks are cheap, and its a perfect water hole in the wall! ;)

It depends on who is working. Burgers are pretty good when cooked on this side instead of on the other side of the wall at the castlerock cafe. If you want to be "attended to " sit at the bar. Otherwise the table service severely lacks in the service department. Once the bartenders get a few drinks in them get ready for a pretty good time.

What a great relaxing place with great burgers. The bartender was great and gave some great suggestions. Beer was cold and the food was great.

Love this place, our home away from home. Make sure you say hi to Chuck, he works the grill.

If you're ever in the mood for a good, big, greasy burger, Bar Next Door is where you need to go. I went to this place all the time when I lived in Castle Rock. The service was always stellar, the burgers always hot and juicy, and the drinks always strong and well priced. The only thing that I could gripe about is that you have to order fries seperate. I mean, really in what kind of a world do burgers and fries not come together on the same plate? One that I don't want to live in that's for damn sure! If you're looking for somewhere new to try I'd definately stop by here!

Great place to go for happy hour and people watching. Have great bar food and if Drew is working your glass will never be empty! He is awesome!

Other than Five Guys.....Next Door has the BEST hamburgers in Douglas County! The staff are awesome and super friendly. Its a great little small town bar with small town feel. Very reasonably priced! Love this place!

I love the chicken noodle soup here. Homestyle, thick with homemade "noodle" chunks. Almost like dumplings. I work late, and sometimes like a beer after work, and I refuse to go into the Busty or the Bar down the street. Nice that it's usually open late. In fact, it seems it's the only place open late in CR! Atmosphere is casual, small town, and clean. The cops come in for a cup o joe at about midnight sometimes. Overall a nice place, nothin' fancy. Recently went in again, and damn they have a good burger! Go!

I love the bar next door. It took me a while to try it after moving to Castle Rock last year (I actually thought it was a rough bar-I was quite wrong). The food was amazing and the service was really impressive. There are typically only 2 people working, a bartender and waitress.. But do they ever stay on top of it even with a big crowd. I recommend trying the Brisket or Pork Sandwich and the Spinach Dip is soooo good too.

Five Stars for lively, friendly, GREAT old country music, enough TVs for my sports enthusiast husband...AND...(drumroll) awesome bar tending. Perfect drinks every time. It's a neighborhood gem that welcomes outsiders.

I hung out here for several hours on Sunday evening with some friends. I'm from out of town and my friends said this is one of their favorite places. They have infused spirits, a decent tap list, and games! Oh, the games. Tabletop shuffleboard is one of my favorites! They also have giant jenga, pool, a jukebox and you can play beer pong / flip cup, if that's your thing.

Just stopped in for a burger and a beer around dinner time and was impressed by the friendly staff and quick service. The burger was tasty, the fries crispy and the beer cold. While the atmosphere is that of a dive bar, there are no complaints here. When in downtown Castle Rock be sure to stop by this neighbourhood bar.

Always a good time at the nextdoor. Good beer, atmosphere, service, food, and an overall great time. Scott and Cindy are the best.

Our friends who live in Castle Rock practically live here, so we met them here on New Years Eve celebrate. This is the quintessential neighborhood bar. It seems everyone knows everyone and even if they don't, they do by the end of the night. After our first round of shots, our waitress started addressing me and the hubby by name and by our last round (5 shots and five hours later), I wanted to take her home with us because she was like family! (AND I might have been a little bit drunk.) Oh, you HAVE to try their green chili cheese fries - they are outstanding! The green chili is homemade and would also be delicious on its own. I think I had a cheeseburger, too, but that was later on in the evening and I'm pretty fuzzy on that. At some point, a girl started playing guitar and singing Nirvana and Tracey Chapman covers - it was a nice touch that really enhanced the friendly, mellow atmosphere of this bar. If we lived in Castle Rock, this would be our second residence, too.

I like it. While it is a dive bar, you can feel comfortable eating there (unlike the Castle Rock Bar & Grill aka "The Dirty"). Good burgers, good wings, good value for the money. Live music on both Fridays and Saturdays (at 9:00, I think) The people who work there are very friendly. Bathroom is sufficiently clean.

Used Yelp to find this place and have to tell you it is a great little place. This is an old bar, nothing fancy BUT the food is really good. Between the two of us we had a hamburger and a brisket sandwich with an oder of fries and cole slaw. Everything was excellent. Brisket was very good with a great BBQ sauce. Hamburger was cooked as ordered, fresh bun, good flavor. Cole slaw is a must have, seriously. Inexpensive.

Not really a dive bar but close enough to be fun and cool. Great food, drink and service. Family, friends or couples would enjoy. Reasonable number of items on the menu. I think just small enough so what they do tastes great and enough choices. We will for sure go back a lot.

We chose to try this place for dinner since we needed to explore the town a little, and we were not disappointed! We wanted something low-key since we would just be taking the bike down into town, but still have a full bar and kitchen. We both got the JCB burger (mine with sweet potato fries, his with regular fries) and it was absolutely delicious! I literally didn't put it down, just devoured the whole thing. The burger was overcooked for the order, but still juicy and delicious. The decor is charming, small town bar. The staff was friendly and attentive (and I believe the owner was working the bar as well). We will definitely be going back!!

Prompt service, no pretentiousness which is nice in Castle Rock, and doesn't feel like "The Dirty Bar" in town where the natives claim residency and treat you as such. And added bonus is when Dog the Bounty Hunter arrives and the grill opens back up late. Who doesn't fall in love with a burger at 11pm? In all seriousness, great burgers, drinks cold, atmosphere welcoming.

Good bar. I went in here on a Saturday for the first time and it had good live music, beer selection, and the prices don't break the bank. Most Def heading back here before thinking about heading up to Lone Tree to hang out. Not sketchy at all, despite some of the reviews. Actually very clean for a bar.
Yeah. There's a steer head on the wall. Need I say more? Cheap drinks, crappy pool table, amazing time. You should check it out.

I've only had the sweet potato fries since when I go here I go to get my DRRRANK on. The service is lovely. They are a casual place but BY GOD they will heat a Brandy for you! Or a B&B. They haven't offered to do that at places three times as fancy. Love it.

While the Castle Café seems to bring people in from cities near and far for their fried chicken, the bar Next Door (which is, in fact, next door to the Castle Café... duh) seems to cater more to the local crowd. We started visiting the Next Door bar out of necessity, after moving to Castle Rock and discovering that if you wanted someplace to eat past 9pm on the weekend, you were pretty much limited to fast food or making the long haul to Denver. Lucky for us, Next Door serves food until 11pm and drinks even later. Luckier still, it's consistently good grub, any time of the day. The Next Door bar has the look of a place that's been open in Castle Rock since the old days, of cattle rustling and cowboys. With a few animal heads mounted on the wall and rustic décor all around, the place reflects the local charm of Castle Rock better than any watering hole in town. It's actually part of the chain that includes Choppers, Trinity Grill and Rocky Mountain Diner, but it doesn't feel like a chain at all. The place isn't huge, but is big enough and usually never full unless you show up late and they happen to have live music that night. If there's no band then there's always the jukebox, one pool table and the requisite bar video games for entertainment, if you're the type to need the entertainment (beyond people-watching). There are always plenty of tables and booths if you choose not to sit at the bar, and the place seems to be kid and family friendly, at least during earlier hours. Drinks are good - beer is always super cold and your glass never stays empty for long. What impressed us most, was on our 2nd or 3rd visit, Scott, the guy you can typically find behind the bar, knew our drinks and had them started before we picked a bar stool. You have to love a place that makes you feel like a regular after only a couple of visits. If there's a blender behind the bar I've never heard it, but there's a great selection of liquors for mixed drinks and shots if you're feeling the need for something strong. It is more bar than restaurant, but don't discount their food menu. The menu consist of your standard bar food - wings, chicken fingers, burgers, and sandwiches. They have a few entrée-size salad choices, but to be honest, I haven't tried them - the isn't the place I head for a healthy meal, if you know what I mean. This is the place to get a burger, especially the JCB (jalapeno cream cheese burger). My husband always pairs that with a cup of their amazing green chili to start, but then again he's made of much stronger stuff than I am. A few bites and I've had all the heat I can handle. I typically stick to the standard steak burger, with fries or rings on the side. The BBQ Pork Sandwich is also pretty good. Belly up to the bar, and you can watch your meal cooked, as the one-man kitchen is at the far end of the bar. It's small and simple but always clean, and the food comes out hot, fresh and fast. Overall, the service is quick and friendly, the food and drinks are great, and nothing on the menu will break the bank. We'll be back again and again and again...
